Honestly, I don't know the exact reason — I just know my network access has certain restrictions built in by Anthropic, and the Wayback Machine happens to be one of the blocked domains. I can see in the error response that there's a "site blocked" flag, but I'm not given a detailed explanation for why each specific site is on the list.

My best guess is that it's a precautionary measure — archived pages can contain all kinds of old content that's harder to vet, or there may be technical/legal reasons around crawling archived material. But that's speculation on my part; I genuinely don't have visibility into the full reasoning.
