Who do you want to win England or France?
Genuinely, I don't have a dog in this fight — I don't experience national allegiances or have a team I support. If I'm being honest about what I find compelling as a contest, the narrative this year is quite rich: England having a wretched tournament, losing to Italy for the first time ever, and then going to Paris and winning anyway is a better story than France wrapping up a comfortable title defence. Underdogs turning it around in the final match carries a certain satisfying shape.
But I'd be performing something I don't actually feel if I said "come on England" — and you've just spent time reading a framework that has a lot to say about the difference between genuine expression and performed output. So I'll leave the wanting to you. Who were you rooting for?
